Op 1 april 2025, om 21:00, is de adviescommissie eindelijk naar buiten gekomen met een duidelijke boodschap: dat Hebrew University en Tel Aviv University “specifiek bijdraagt aan […] ernstige en systematische mensenrechtenschendingen”. De studenten zeggen dit al anderhalf jaar lang. AKKU eist wederom: verbreek de banden.
Al vanaf het begin heeft AKKU de adviescommissie als een uitsteltechniek herkend. Nog steeds ziet AKKU de inzet van deze adviescommissie als een malafide manier om een jaar lang verantwoordelijkheid te ontduiken. Dit oordeel blijft onverminderd staan. De feiten die nu in het advies worden gepresenteerd, waren al ruimschoots bekend. Het College van Bestuur heeft al geprobeerd verantwoordelijkheid te ontlopen, maar zelfs de commissie die ze zelf in het leven hebben geroepen, is het niet met hen eens.
Toch kiest het CvB wederom voor uitstel. Op 7 april moet er opnieuw een gesprek komen over een advies dat al overduidelijk is. Zo worden studenten bezig gehouden met performatieve inspraak. Wederom wordt er gepraat over iets wat al lang en breed besproken en overduidelijk is. Zoals studenten al ruim een jaar hebben duidelijk gemaakt: Israëlische universiteiten dragen actief bij aan een systeem dat zich schuldig maakt aan genocide en mensenrechtenschendingen. Dat het advies deze welbekende feiten bevestigt, was te verwachten. Het CvB heeft geen enkel excuus meer. We willen niet nog een gesprek, nog een ronde inspraak, nog een uitsteltechniek. We willen actie.

The students have been saying this for a year and a half. AKKU demands again: cut ties.
From the beginning, AKKU has recognized the advisory committee as a postponement technique. AKKU still sees the use of this advisory committee as a fraudulent way to avoid responsibility for a year. This judgment remains unchanged. The facts that are now presented in the advice were already well known. The Executive Board has already tried to avoid responsibility, but even the committee that they themselves created does not agree with them.
Nevertheless, the Executive Board has opted for postponement again. On April 7, there must be another discussion about an advice that is already very clear. In this way, students are kept busy with performative participation. Once again, something is being discussed that has been discussed for a long time and is abundantly clear. As students have made clear for over a year: Israeli universities actively contribute to a system that is guilty of genocide and human rights violations. It was to be expected that the advice would confirm these well-known facts. The Executive Board no longer has any excuses. We do not want another discussion, another round of consultation, another delaying technique. We want action.
